Cannot Install Os X El Capitan

Install

Installing El Capiton on an old Mac Book Pro today, I received the error:

Cannot install os x el capitan version

OS X could not be installed on your computer

Now, I've have been trying for a week and a half to get either 10.10 or 10.11 to install and I receive the same message from both: 'This copy of the Install OS X Yosemite (or El Capitan) application can't be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading.

  1. That is because of the new security function of OS X 'El Capitan'. Try adding -user-install instead of using sudo: $ gem install.user-install For example, if you want to install fake3 just use: $ gem install fake3 -user-install.
  2. OS X El Capitan won't install on these two MacBook Pros (8,1). Let's find out!Support the show and get in the credits http://Patreon.com/KrazyKenWant.

No packages were eligible for install. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again.

I checked Appleā€™s support Matrix (it is a very old macbook pro) at https://support.apple.com/kb/SP728?locale=en_GB and it was listed as supported.

After lots of Googling and investigation, I discovered that the date and time were not set to current, the macbook thought it was year 2000.

You can easily reset the time and date by following the steps below:

  • Click Utilities on the menu bar
  • Select Terminal
  • Type date
  • Confirm the date is wrong
  • Type date 062112422016 (example: June 21st 12:42 2016)
  • Exit terminal
  • Click Restart

Cannot Install Os X El Capitan Update

Once the Date and time are configured you will be able to install OS X.

Can't Reinstall Os X El Capitan
